Let there be light (2022)

When the city is eroded by darkness, all creatures are trying their best to reach any chance of brightness.

Role:

Directing & storyboard. 

Unreal Engine 4 environment & sequencer setup, Rokoko calibration and tracking.

Animation cleanup for the boy.

Softwares: Rokoko, Motion Builder and Unreal Engine 4.

Character: Mixamo

Environment: Unreal marketplace

Challenges

Doing motion capture was definitely an interesting experience, but is also not easy to get a smooth animation. Being the only one who has touched Unreal Engine in the group, there were more time spent on communication and project tracking. Although we were using appleboxes to represent staircase during shooting, the step size were so different when putting into the 3d environment.

Solutions

I have setup the entire sequencer and environment in UE, including camera positions and prop animations, however, there were quite a lot of updates need to be made to avoid clippings and unstable movements., Luckily, most of them can be covered within sequencer, such as framing and timing, even the animations to create the desired outcome.
